Meet the members of our leadership team.
Brian initially founded Apex with a focus on providing a clearer statement design to help combat the growing challenge of patients being confused by their healthcare bills. As the healthcare financial system has become increasingly complex, Brian has led the company to deliver innovative solutions that tailor financial communications and payment options to the needs of patients to improve revenue cycle results, the patient experience, and provider-patient relationships. His entrepreneurial spirit and ability to respond to changing business needs has helped Apex prosper, winning numerous industry and technology awards, and enjoying significant year over year growth. Brian sits on the board of directors of companies, including Livio Health Group, Element Consulting, VitalWare, and Driessen Water. He graduated from St. John’s University (SJU) in Minnesota in 1989, and was named Entrepreneur of the Year from The Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship at SJU in 2016.
Pat has served as Apex’s President since May 2008. He is responsible for establishing Apex’s product strategy and development, implementation, and support functions. Prior to joining Apex, Pat worked as Executive Vice President and Sr. Operations Officer for SPS Commerce, a SaaS based electronic data interchange (EDI) company, helping large retail organizations improve supply chain efficiency. Pat holds a B.A. in Management, Organizational Leadership from St. John’s University (Minnesota).
Warren has served as Apex’s Chief Financial Officer since September 2009. He oversees finance, accounting, HR and production. Previously, Warren was Corporate Controller of IntriCon Corporation and also worked for Ernst & Young, LLP. Warren holds a B. S. in Accounting from Winona State University (Minnesota), and was named CFO of the Year (2013) by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal.
Elizabeth is Chief Experience officer at Apex Revenue Technologies and President of LetterLogic, a wholly owned subsidiary of Apex. Elizabeth oversees project management, account management and programming for the companies, and is passionate about inspiring her teams to create remarkable experiences for clients. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Policy, completed leadership training at Scarlett Leadership Institute, and has held previous positions with NASDAQ, NYSE and the Billy Graham Foundation.
Ryan has served in various roles with Apex since 2007, and is responsible for the ongoing development of Apex’s award-winning SaaS platform. Prior to joining Apex, Ryan co-founded a software development and engineering consulting company, providing technology and services to US government agencies including NASA and the US Forest Service. Ryan holds an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Eric is Chief Operating Office of Apex and LetterLogic, responsible for production and general operations for the companies’ print facilities and staff. A graduate of Western Kentucky University with a BA in Economics, he also holds a certification in Strategic Innovation from Vanderbilt University. Eric began his career in the insurance industry, beginning with Alfa Mutual Insurance Company and Progressive Insurance before joining LetterLogic in 2014.
Carrie leads Apex’s implementation and partner integration efforts, as well as account management and customer success. Prior to Apex, Carrie worked as the Director of Product Innovation at Humana where she was responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions for health plan customers and members. Carrie has over 25 years of Healthcare experience, and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin.
Tom Ziel leads solution consulting and sales efforts for new direct healthcare customers at Apex. Tom has more than 20 years of experience successfully leading complex sales organizations for high-growth, healthcare technology companies. Tom brings the proven ability to match customer needs with solution value, align sales and service delivery to optimize the onboarding of new customers, and support high customer retention rates in recurring revenue business models by positioning customers for ongoing success. Most recently, Tom was Senior Vice President of Sales for Healthland, Minneapolis, and previously led sales organizations at Lawson and Logicare. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Serving as Apex’s Vice President of Partner Sales, Greg Barmore has over 25 years of experience in print and technology sales, and focuses on expanding the Apex partner network and growing business through existing partner channels. Prior to joining Apex, Greg held numerous senior level positions in the print and technology sectors, where he led corporate business development and new client acquisition. Greg holds a Business Administration degree in Management from Iowa State University.
